THE SURREAL PET WORLD OF DALI

THE SURREAL PET WORLD OF DALI

Of course we didn’t expect the founding father of Surrealism would have lived with ordinary pet companions like cats & dogs.

The Spanish art doyen Salvador Dali had an extraordinary affinity for animals. Doves, elephants, lobsters, rhinos... Every living form could have been the subject of his marvelous works of art.

His choice of pets was exceptional too. His most famous pets were the two ocelots, called Babou & Bouba. They often accompanied Dalí in social gatherings with their leashes and stone studded collars on.

He had the rooster Oscar that traveled with him a lot. He was even photographed while he was taking an anteater for a walk in Paris!
